Everett Insurance Brokers, Inc. was founded as a sole proprietorship in 2005 and is owned and operated by the founders Cornell Everett and Janet Mickens-Everett. He originally ran the operation from his home, but moved to the business section of downtown Durham, North Carolina when he outgrew his home based operation.

In September 2005, the company moved to a new office building in the revitalized business section and over the course of 3 months has formed a broker’s agreement with five managing general agencies and agency appointments with four major AM+ Best rated carriers, one of which led to the establishment of our Durham North Carolina office.

In 2005, a new business relationship was formed with "Smart Choice" which initially bought automobile insurance business to Everett Insurance Brokers, Inc. on a standard and non-standard level which ultimately gave us access to rated carrier such as Instrust Insurance Group, Farmers & Foremost Insurance Group, and National Insurance Underwriters. The shares have not been affected by the new relationship with other companies and are owned equally by Cornell Everett and Janet Mickens-Everett. We are family owned and operated.
